How often do you tell yourself ‘good job!’ Or ‘I’m proud of you!’? Probably not as often as you tell yourself how ‘DUMB’ you are for that ‘STUPID’ thing you did. But was it really that big of a deal? Something I’ve learned over the past few years is that every decision I make is the right one. Everything I have done has led me to where I am today. There is no right or wrong, no good or bad decision. There just is.
Whatever you decide today determines where you will be tomorrow. The choices you make will always lead to a result. That is the law of cause and effect.
Now you have to ask yourself if you are in fact happy with the cur- rent results. If not you have to decide to take action and change it, because it is not going to change just because you wish for it.
For a long time I chose to do nothing. I chose to wallow in my sadness, always hoping for a better result, but unwilling to actually do the work and as a result nothing changed. My life and all my problems stayed the same for many years, because I stayed the same. It was comfortable that way. There were no surprises, I knew what I could expect every day and I liked it that way. I didn’t have to fear what might be, because I didn’t create any possibilities for new things to happen.
Know that there is absolutely nothing wrong with this! I do not regret a single moment of my past.
Could I have made better decisions? Absolutely. Would it have spared me a lot of pain and suffering. Without a doubt! But I would- n’t be able to look back on those decisions and learn from them if I hadn’t made them in the first place.
You see, everything we do and don’t do in life has a result. It is up to us to change the result if we are not happy with it. No one else can do it for us.
You have to take matters in your own hands, because nobody can ever truly understand what it is you are looking for. Nobody can ever feel exactly what you are feeling. They can only ever imagine what it feels like, but they will never experience the effect your thoughts have on your mind.
Every life is unique. Some people might look like you, might have the same ideas, but they will never be you. They will never be able to execute those ideas the way that you would and that is your power. Even if we were to be in the same situation and witness the exact same thing, it is what we decide to do after that leads to the results of our own choosing. Therefor no one result will ever be the same, because we will never be able to experience it the same way.
We all have our own life, with our own mind, our own thoughts and our own freedom to choose what we do with it. It’s useless to com- pare yourself to someone else, because they are not meant to do what you are doing.
All the decisions you ever made in the past, made you the person you are today.
So I invite you to praise yourself for every one of them, for every lesson you learned from that ‘stupid thing’ you did. Praise yourself the next time you fix a problem. Be proud of yourself when you overcome an obstacle, just as much as you would beat yourself up for it.
Never forget that you are you for a reason. If someone doesn’t like you for you that’s okay, what matters is that you like you! At the end of the day we’re stuck with ourselves, so it does not matter what other people think of you. It is absolutely none of your business what is going on in their mind, because you can only change what is going on in yours.
Not quite sure how to start with all of this, that’s okay! Because you can do all of this with our free self love journal and exercises on our playbook app. Start the 5 day self love challenge and give yourself the comfort and love that you deserve!
